Marine Force Reconnaissance, What does it take?

Looking into enlisting with the Marines, but looking into this as a career, Im actually aiming for something higher...Marine Force Reconnaissance Corp. I was told that in order for me to head down that path, id have to go through 4 years of infantry. Is that true? I thought after boot camp and 2 years of training, you could talk to your superiors about joining FORECON and if you qualify, more training takes you from there. Thats what i was told. Others on the internet say that FORECON is disbanded. Can someone please clarify things for me, because im getting alot of different responses. Is it true? Is FORECON disbanded? Why? And if not then what are the requirements to become one?
